OLYMPIC FEVER

It was an amazing summer Olympics in Beijing for fencing. The Usual Suspects of World Fencing continued to show the rest how it’s done. But there were some notable performances elsewhere. The US made it a clean sweep of the individual Women’s Sabre medals, while Yuki Ota of Japan won silver in Men’s Foil, and Hyun Hee Nam won Silver for South Korea in Women’s Foil. The hosts, China, were not far behind, with Man Zhong winning their first Gold Medal in Men’s Sabre, and their women’s Sabre Squad losing in a thrilling 44-45 Gold Medal match to the Ukraine.

For complete results, visit the FIE website or the Beijing Olympics Website.

FOR THE NEW YEAR

Due to the infectious nature of Facebook, the vast majority of news from our club are currently being communicated through our group page there, rather than the website (the webmaster’s overbearing work/study schedule also contributes to the lack of upgrading), so if you’d like to be up to date with events, go to our facebook page, or drop us a line at our e-mail address if you are not a facebook member (and/or don’t want to be one).
