Why do you need my information?
The data collected is essential to the effective running of the conference. Names of presenters and talk titles / abstracts will be posted on the conference website and in the programme. This will help attendees to make an informed choice at the parallel sessions. Data on access and dietary requirements is essential in catering to attendees’ needs during the conference. Attendee email addresses will be used to provide updates and information about the conference.
What allows you to use my information?
We are collecting and using the data to carry out the contract we enter to facilitate attendance at the conference.
Who will my information be shared with?
The data will be shared with members of the organising committee for planning purposes. Data on dietary and access requirements will be shared with the catering providers and building managers respectively but will not be linked to specific individuals.
Do I have to provide this information and what will happen if I don’t?
The information is essential for effective planning of the conference and fulfilling the conference contract with attendees.
How long will you keep this data for and why?
The data will be stored for 6 months after the conference concludes to provide time to advertise appropriate follow-up opportunities to attendees. Attendees can ask for their data to be deleted earlier than this by emailing mathscee@liverpool.ac.uk. All attendee data will be securely deleted six months after the conference.
How will my information be stored?
Information will be stored on a secure university-licenced platform.
Will this information be used to take automated decisions about me?
No.
Will my data be transferred abroad and why?
No.
What rights do I have when it comes to my data?
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, you may have the following rights with regards to your personal data:
- The Right to subject access – you have the right to see a copy of the personal data that the University holds about you and find out what it is used for.
- The Right to rectification – you have the right to ask the University to correct or remove any inaccurate data that we hold about you.
- The Right to erasure (right to be forgotten) you have the right to ask the University to remove data that we hold about you.
- The Right to restriction – you have the right to ask for your information to be restricted (locked down) on University systems.
- The Right to data portability – you have the right to ask for your data to be transferred back to you or to a new provider at your request.
- The Right to object – you have the right to ask the University to stop using your personal data or to stop sending you marketing information, or complain about how your data is used.
- The Right to prevent automated decision making – you have the right to ask the University to stop using your data to make automated decisions about you or to stop profiling your behaviour (where applicable).
