A project to celebrate aeronautical genius…

In the space of six years the Wright Brothers conceived, designed, built and tested the world’s first practical aeroplane. Evolving from their 1899 unmanned, 5ft span kite to their 40ft span 1905 powered aircraft, the Wright brothers applied their knowledge and skill in a manner that would be recognisable to the 21st century aerospace engineer.

The Liverpool Wright Brothers project is bringing to life the Wright Brothers’ achievements in this centenary period. The technology developed by the Wrights is examined using modern flight science techniques. Wright
