The discussion board tool lets you hold threaded discussions within a VITAL module. Depending how your module tutors have set the discussion board tool up, you can receive email alerts when new messages are added to a discussion board forum.

There is a problem with the tool linking to a discussion board within a VITAL module - if you are experiencing problems linking to a discussion board, please contact your module tutor.

The blog and journal tool, depending how it has been set up by your module tutors lets you create blog posts and add comments to blog posts within a VITAL module. Blogs and journals can be private or of all students enrolled to a VITAL module.

You may find that the blog and journal tool is slow to load occasionally - please give it a few minutes to open.

A wiki is a collection of web pages that are linked together, in essence: a website.

There are no current issues with the wiki tool, however, you may find that the tool works better in certain browsers. Sometimes the wiki tool can become slow in VITAL when you use Internet Explorer. In this case, save your work, close down Internet Explorer and reopen again. Alternatively, use Firefox as your browser.

The Student guide to the wiki tool (Student guide to the wiki.pdf) shows you how you can edit a page, add an images and other multimedia files, create links between pages etc.
