Extra information relevant to Heavy metals in the Marine Environment:

Pollution History of the Mersey Estuary - shows some results from our research on re-constructing the pollution history of the Mersey Estuary from the 1800s to the present day from the metals deposited in sediment cores from the salt marshes near to Widnes. Graphs are presented representing the concentrations of various heavy metals resulting from industrial discharges (A PowerPoint slideshow should start or download depending on your browser settings)

Lecture 2 : Introduction to Persistent Organic Pollutants (PoPs)

Extra information relevant to PoPs in the Marine Environment:

Endocrine Disruption is a significant environmental issue caused by various pollutants which can interfere with the endocrine systems of both vertebrates and invertebrates. A separate website giving more information on Endocrine Disruption this is now available
