VACANCIES

Grant applications are planned or submitted for several projects; post-doctoral vacancies may arise at any point. Speculative enquiries are always welcome; particularly if you have strong cell biology, electron microscopy or proteomic skills. I will also support initiatives to obtain independent funding to join my lab.

Undergraduate: summer vacation placements can be arranged, contact me at least 6 months in advance.

PhD: most of our students join via the Wellcome Trust funded 4 year PhD program. BBSRC and CRUK funded studentships are also advertised - contact me for details 12 months in advance of your proposed start date.

Post-doc: vacancies may be available in Autumn 2010. and Spring 2011. Alternatively think of these pro-active options:

Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowship: 4 year fellowship for newly qualified outstanding EU post-doctoral scientists.

EMBO: short (3 month) training or longer (2 year) research fellowships.

Human Frontiers Science Program: interdisciplinary, novel and innovative research, suitable for overseas scientists moving to UK.

EU: Intra-European Fellowships for career development (IEF). To enable EU member state early career scientists to aquire new skills or experience.

Royal Society: fellowships for overseas scientists to work in UK lab.
