Introduction
The disease in endemic in parts of Africa, Asia, South America and the Middle East. A very contagious disease. Affects cloven-hoofed animals not normally fatal to adult animals but is debilitating and will effect yields. Can cause death in young animals. |

outbreak In 2001 February to September in the UK there were 2,030 cases. |

Origins
Virus first isolated in 1898. Disease much older. |
