VITAL Support Overview
Student VITAL queries - please note - all student queries concerning VITAL should be directed to the CSD helpdesk (contact information at http://www.liv.ac.uk/csd/helpdesk/).

Staff support for VITAL
The University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is called VITAL (Virtual Interactive Teaching at Liverpool) and uses the Blackboard software.For staff, VITAL is supported by two teams, each of which has different responsibilities. Each team aims to answer your query as quickly as possible.
Please note that the email address for VITAL support is changing. From Monday April 16th 2012 any technical VITAL queries (module enrolments, system crashes and errors, tools and facilities not working) should be sent to CSD Helpdesk (helpdesk@liv.ac.uk or telephone 44567). CSD Helpdesk will then send your query to the most appropriate University team to deal with your particular issue.
The CSD technical team
As well as responding to all student queries, CSD deal with all issues concerning:- • Student/staff enrolment or module access problems
- • VITAL bugs (error messages, VITAL tools not functioning as expected)
- • Service failures or problems (crashes or slow speeds)
Contact via the CSD helpdesk (helpdesk@liv.ac.uk or telephone 44567). CSD operates a 24/7 helpdesk but some services, including VITAL, are reduced outside of 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday office hours.
The eLearning Unit (based in Educational Development, CLL)
The eLearning Unit support staff by providing:- • Advice, information and guidance on using any aspect of VITAL.
- • Introductory and advanced workshops for all staff, on a range of VITAL and technology enhanced learning subjects.
- • A staff support site on how to use VITAL which includes a set of ‘How to’ guides, videos and a ‘Known Issues’ page, regularly updated with any workarounds available.
- • Examples of best practice when using VITAL or any other aspect of technology enhanced learning.
- • Information on how to use technology effectively for learning and teaching.
- • Consultation, advice and training for schools, departments and faculties on any aspect of TEL.
