Professor Sophie Wuerger

I am a professor of cognitive  neuroscience with particular focus on visual neuroscience. To understand how signals from the retina map into higher-order appearance mechanisms I use behavioural methods, electrophysiology and functional brain imaging.

Understanding the computations the visual brain performs allows us to develop appearance models mimicking the human visual system which are useful in clinical, medical and industrial applications.

I am also the lead for the Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience Group in the Institute of Life and Human Sciences a the University of Liverpool.
