Adobe Acrobat Combine files in Adobe Acrobat Command Fails…
This article gave clues to the terrible problem I was having, but the instructions are completely wrong for Word 2007.
It says: 2. Choose help "about".... you can't do this in 2007!!!
Rather you go to Word options, select add-ins.... go down the page to manage... Manage the disabled and re-enable it...
The instructions are some rubbish.
Basically in my case, there was no possibility of using the device until connecting it to a PC via an Ethernet cable and then setting up the wireless from there with the Airport Utility.
THEN… disconnecting the lead and going wireless.
Just works my foot!!!
Apple Airport Extreme… similar to above. Note… does not have a modem, sow will not replace most folks home broadband modem/routers combined. The trick with this one is to know the password? Unbelievably I could not even find this in the instructions. It is “public”.
Apple seem to wish for these good quality products to be unusable except by experts. Setting these up has been the most challenging technological experience of my career!!!
Cloud Storages compared
Well of course there is Apples “free” iCloud. As far as I can see this is entirely linked to iTunes et al. I have only used this for the free bit, up to 5GB for notes and documents etc... and purchased music. However, my iTunes library is about 60GB+ ...so there is no way I want pay the extra to have it all uploaded to that! I am investigating how to get iTunes onto a network drive.. watch this space.
Dropbox. This is great. Only 2GB to begin with, but you (and I) will both get an extra 250GB free if you sign up via this link>
My ambition is to build this right up to the maximum free 8GB. So that means in the world I need only about 25 volunteers?
It works well and I am using it on a few computers.
Sugarsync is just as good. 5GB free, but a little cheaper/more flexible (than Dropbox) if you choose to purchase extra space. Again, if you sign up via this link:
You and I should both, in theory, get an extra free 500MB. If you can work within the free limits (2GB or 5GB respectively), Dropbox and Sugarsync are both very effective and completely free solutions for people who work in multiple offices. Like me J
