A post-doctoral position is available

The area:

The general area is central control of the fight or flight response in the hypothalamus. This is a project of basic science (in particular ion channel modulation), but addresses fundamental issues of control of the cardiovascular system. The project is funded by the British Heart Foundation.

The project:

Substance P receptor actions in the PVN. We want to investigate how substance P, and other neuropeptide neurotransmitters modulate neuronal function in the PVN of the hypothalamus. We also want to investigate where the substance P comes from.
The work will involve principally involve in slice patch clamp neuropharmacology, but there will also be a requirement for immunohistochemistry.

Project details are available here (PDF format), but the successful candidate will also be invited to contribute to other ongoing ion channel projects in order to boost experience (and publications!). The Candidate:

Good degree in biosciences (pharmacology etc.,) and recent PhD/DPhil.

The Salary:

Depends on age and experience.
Range: £18,265-£20,311 (under review).

Start Date

Ideally, spring.
