This video will help you prepare for the PhD viva. The video includes an example scenario and provides interviews with staff who have internal and external examinar which will help you understand how the viva works, the different roles of those present and how to make the best performance at the viva. The specific example is in the Social Sciences area, but the issues and advice are relevant to all disciplines. It is 32 minutes long.

Note that this case study illustrates a viva at Birkbeck College, where the supervisor is allowed to be present, although he takes no part in the viva. The supervisor is not allowed to be present in a viva at the University of Liverpool.
