UKBiotec is an innovator in the fields of Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Biocompatibility. Through the regeneration of tissues using novel biomaterial scaffolds or cellular therapies, it is anticipated that new treatment options will become available for injured or degenerated tissues that have not previously been possible, or which were formerly uneconomic to provide. Key to this paradigm is control of the natural local cellular environment around an implanted scaffold through manipulation of the inflammatory response, driving cell migration and controlling the direction of the cells’ maturation, enabling tissue regeneration.
