Wirral Countryside Volunteers Celebrate Jubilee

Saturday 14th August saw the WCV celebrate 25 years with a barbecue and the unveiling of a commemorative bench by the local MP, Alison McGovern. She arrived just as the sun broke through the clouds  and as she stood by the entrance display she saw 20 odd butterflies and 5 species including a brimstone in  what she eloquently described as a “butterfly moment”.

Thanks to all who contributed to great day. It was especially wonderful that Andrew Brockbank one of the originators of the group, a quarter century ago could attend and do the honours with Alison of cutting the special commission Silver Jubilee cake -WCV style - with a billhook.
