Lecture Title: What is Inflammation?


Lecture Synopsis Sheet: Summary / Abstract

This session will provide an overview of the clinical and pathological features of acute and chronic inflammation. The aims are to ensure that students are aware of the terminology used to describe inflammation and will reinforce learning objectives considered in PBL during this module.

 

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this lecture (assuming adequate knowledge from year 1 learning and from associated reading during the module) the student should be able to:

Outline the pathological terminology used when describing acute and chronic inflammation.

Describe the basic pathology, chemical mechanisms and clinical features of acute inflammation.

Describe the basic pathology and clinical features of tuberculosis.
