Following 5 years professional experience, research and
consultancy experience of NDT of concrete both in the laboratory and on site
spans 30 years. Author of 2 textbooks on reinforced concrete design and 2 books
on testing concrete as well as over 140 relevant technical papers in journals
and conference proceedings. Recent major research contracts include insitu
concrete strength assessment, reinforcement corrosion assessment, the use of
subsurface radar, and fast-track construction.
Past chairman of BSI committee on NDT of concrete, the British National
Committee for N.D.T. and British Institute of NDT "NDT Forum".
Current chairman of Concrete Society N.D.T. Working Party. Corresponding
member of Concrete Society Materials Group, Durable Post-tensioned concrete and
Core Testing Committees, and American Concrete Institute Committee 228
"NDT of Concrete". Member of Highways Agency NDT Steering
Committee and Editorial Board "Construction & Building Materials"
and “Cement and Concrete Composites”.
Presenter of numerous invited lectures and short courses on reinforced concrete
design and N.D.T. of concrete within the UK and overseas, teaching experience
includes structural design and constructional materials as well as concrete
performance and assessment.
