Lecture 15: "Gut communication with its environment - Nutrient sensing & uptake"


Objective: - To develop an understanding of:
  1. Nutrient sensing in the GI tract and the “Gustotopic” map of the tongue
  2. Taste receptors including the different types and taste modalities
  3. Taste receptors in the gut (stomach, gallbladder, small intestine, colon) and relevant nutrient transport mechanisms
  4. Nutrient sensing and the potential for future medicines
