Giardia detection

GIARDIASIS

Giardia are flagellated protozoa which can infect many animals.  Typical symptoms include chronic diarrhoea and weight loss. Giardia is being increasingly recognised in association with enteric disease in dogs. This infection is potentially zoonotic.

Parasite Detection

Giardia are detected by examination of faecal preparations.

Sample            1g  fresh faeces
