Regulations

The conditions for joining the quadnet pilot follow. To join quadnet you need to provide:

  • The ability to allow academic visitors to your institution to set up a VPN link back to their home institution through a wireless or plug in connection to a Bluesocket device or similar. (This VPN link should not provide a split tunnel. All access requests should be directed back to the home institution, including browsing of public web sites not at the home institution.)

  • The ability to offer a VPN service to remote members of your own Institution.

  • The ability to provide support to remote users through your Helpdesk.

  • FAQs and user guides for remote users on your home web site

  • Signage to the areas on campus from which visitor connection is possible, including clear identification of the name of any wireless network to be used.

  • The ability to provide management information about the extent to which the visitor service is used (to the extent that this is technically possible).

  • Formal acceptance of the fact that no trace-back of a user can be performed by the institution hosting the visitor.
