What is PILAS?
PILAS is the postgraduate arm of the Society for Latin American Studies (SLAS). As an organization that is postgraduates run, we aim to foster interaction between postgraduates in Latin American studies, mostly at institutions within the United Kingdom but also with our members from Europe and the Americas.

Committee Responsibilities
The representation of the postgraduates in SLAS committee.
Attendance at SLAS meetings four times a year and keeping PILAS members up-to-date with what's going on in SLAS via the PILAS mailing lists.
Writing PILAS reports for the SLAS newsletter.
Organising and running the annual PILAS conference.
Organising the PILAS training day at the beginning of the annual SLAS conference.
Maintaining and operating the PILAS mail lists.
To respond to enquiries throughout the year about PILAS and its events.
