Anna Pratoussevitch uses quizzes with small prizes to reinforce
concepts which students find difficult.
- In MATH349, she found that students had difficulties
visualizing saddle surfaces. She asked students to find examples of
saddle surfaces in the Mathematical Sciences building, and offered
pringles as a prize.
- In MATH343, students found it difficult to understand that the
order of the product of two group elements is not in general the
product of their orders. She asked students to work out the order of
a particular Rubik's cube move, and offered a small Rubik's cube
keyring as a prize.
