Use of e-clicker devices: Technical details

For more information contact: Thomas Eckl , Peter Giblin .

You must install a program on a computer of your choice. Note that this software is already installed on one of the departmental laptops.

Download "Classroom Performance System (CPS) 5.62" from this webpage, and install it.

Download this configuration file into a folder of your choice.

When you start CPS for the first time the system asks if you want to create a database or if you want to open an existing one. Point to the configuration file.

Connect the receiver device ( the one with the cable) to your computer. If you want to try the system, also connect some clicker devices to the receiver, following the instructions on this slide.

In the CPS system click on the "Engage/Verbal" button above the big white space. Click "OK" in the window opening; you should get a big "15". Click "OK" again.

A small menu should be open now. Select the kind and number of questions you would like to ask (Yes/No, A/B, ...) and vote on some of the connected devices. Click "End", wait some seconds, and the result will appear on the screen.

Note that displaying your questions to the students is completely independent of the CPS system. You can even write them on the blackboard if you prefer.
