Download the perl script which produces scatter plots here, and save it as scatter.pl. (From internet explorer, right-click on the link and choose Save target as...).
They can be created at any point that they are needed: using only semester 1 mark sheets after the first semester exams, or using all mark sheets after the second semester exams (so that the average marks are calculated with all available data).
Place all of the marksheets to be taken into account in a separate folder, together with a copy of the file scatter.pl (which may just appear as scatter, depending on your settings in windows explorer). Double-click on scatter.pl and wait. An output spreadsheet called scatters.xlsx will be produced. This contains a separate tab with the scatter plot for each module. It also has a tab called Scalings with a list of the scalings for each module: modifying these will automatically modify the associated scatter plot, so that it is possible to investigate the effect of different scalings on the plot.
Once the output spreadsheet has been produced, you can delete all of the copied marksheets, so as to avoid having multiple versions amongst your files.
