Retention of samples of marked student work by UK Universities
The following Universities don't require samples of marked student
work (routine homework) to be kept
- Aston (they do keep samples of any work counting towards degree
classification)
- Bath
- Bristol (students are informed that they need to keep their
marked work in case it is required by the external)
- Cambridge
- Edinburgh
- Essex
- Heriott-Watt (Though they do keep work in honours year which
counts to degree classification.)
- Imperial
- KCL
- Lancaster
- Leeds
- Leicester
- Loughborough
- LSE
- Manchester
- Royal Holloway
- Queen Mary
- Queen's University Belfast (according to Head of Applied Maths,
Head of Pure Maths disagrees)
- Sheffield
- St. Andrews (though they keep samples which count towards the
assessment of the module)
- Sussex
- Swansea
- UCL
- Warwick
- University of the West of England
The following Universities do require samples of marked student work
(routine homework) to be kept
- Abertay Dundee
- Bolton (collect student work back in at the end of the module for
externals to look at)
- Coventry
- Exeter (not sure if University requirement, but they do it
anyway)
- Glamorgan
- Greenwich
- Hertfordshire
- Keele
- Newcastle (The Head of School says yes, although another report
says they are not required to.)
- Nottingham (Take samples from about 1/3 of modules each year)
- Open University
- Oxford Brookes
- Plymouth
- Queen's University Belfast (according to Head of Pure Maths,
Head of Applied Maths disagrees)
- Sheffield Hallam
- Southampton
- West of Scotland
- Wolverhampton
