This is the homepage of the SoES Sustainability Group which seeks to promote environmentally sustainable behaviour amongst staff and students in the school. It is intended for use by all members of the school as a source of information on these issues.

Upcoming and Recent Activities

June, 2012 - The school again excelled in Green Impacts with all four buildings + NOCL improving their award level. The Herdman and Nicholson Buildings, together with NOCL, all got the Gold Award, while the Gordon Stephenson and Roxby Buildings achieved Silver.

March, 2012 - The school is again going for glory in the national Green Impacts scheme with a new advocate representing the Nicholson building

Oct-Nov, 2011 - Free cycling training is available through the Autumn courtesy of BikeRight

Sept-October, 2011 - We welcome all new and returning students! We are hoping to recruit a team of student volunteers this year and ask anyone interested to get in touch.

31st March, 2011 - It was announced that the School has done itself proud in the Green Impacts scheme scooping 3 silver awards (Herdman, Nicholson, and NOCL) and 2 bronze awards (Roxby and Gordon Stephenson) as well as special awards for the Best Energy Saving Idea (The Big Turnoff and Green Cake) and Environmental Hero (NOCL - John Mackinnon).

Jan-Feb, 2011 - The school is participating in the Green Impacts Scheme with each of the four buildings (+ NOCL) making independent submissions. What do you think to our Top 5 Environmental Impacts assessment?

22nd October, 2010 - "The Big Turn Off" and "Green Cake" events were held to raise awareness and establish a baseline for electricity consumption.

13th October, 2010 - First meeting of the school Students Sustainability Forum.

25th September, 2010 - Sustainability Advocates were, for the first time, involved in the induction of new SoES students during Freshers' Week.

3rd August, 2010 - There was a SciBar free event "Reflections on Oil Spills, Sewage and Over Fishing" lead by Prof Chris Frid at The Ship and Mitre Pub. See www.liverpool.scibar.org.uk for details of future events.

15th and 16th July, 2010 - Sandra Robinson attended the Conference "Tomorrow's Sustainable Universities" at the University of Bradford.
