Modelling Hydrodynamics around Nearshore Structures

Summary:

This EPSRC funded project aims to improve the specification of hydrodynamic conditions around "leaky" nearshore breakwaters by allowing for both wave reflection and fluid leakage in computer model software. Existing large-scale laboratory data from the UK Coastal Research Facility (UKCRF) at HR Wallingford will be used to calibrate and validate the improved model software. The improved model will then be used to study the flow patterns around nearshore structures, including both single and group breakwater schemes, and the influence of the group structures on the nearshore hydrodynamics. The model will provide more accurate and extended hydrodynamic information at those situations.

Duration:

The duration of the Project is for 18 months from January 2002

Funds:

The total funds for Liverpool is £62,458 under contract no GR/R50394
