POPs : a group of chemicals which includes many Organohalogens : Persistent Organic Pollutants
The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Pollutants is a global treaty to
protect human health and the environment from the adverse impacts of persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
The intention is to remove all of them from our environment:

There are 12
POPs defined under the Stockholm Convention including various
pesticides, PCBs and Dioxins
The international community has come together under UN auspices as the
UNEP POPs Programme to increase
international co-operation to reduce our exposure to POPs
