Two groups of fishes are of particular interest for the purposes of this course:
(You should know about the species complex associated with rivers draining into the Atlantic Ocean - the species are essentially the same on both sides of the Atlantic. They include the Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and the Brown trout, Salmo trutta. The Brown trout is the non-migratory form of the Sea trout.)
(You should know about the five species of salmon together with the Rainbow trout, all naturally associated originally with rivers draining into the Pacific Ocean )
